After many years of home daycare I have seen far too many children bounced from day care to day care because most new providers do not understand how much work and dedication it takes to run a quality day care. The affects from having children bounced around are detrimental to the child in many ways. it teaches children to be insecure and sometimes unable to bond. This is a sad reality and that is why i make it a priority that every child who comes to my day care be made to feel safe and secure. It is my goal not to be a temporary solution but a long-term solution.

As I take in new children I make a point of letting parents know that it is very important to me that we work together in making this a smooth transition for the child to help foster a secure long term day care solution My track record speaks for itself. I am a very dependable person. I understand that parents must work and in 14 years I have only closed two days because I was ill.

As a day care provider I understand that children need rules and boundaries. I have also learned that there must be a good balance between boundaries and allowing children to learn and express themselves. I believe positive redirection makes children understand in simple ways what the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behavior is.
Children learn by example &i feel that having a positive attitude in dealing with children promotes a good attitude for them. I have implemented a "positive reinforcement" plan in my daycare. I use time out as a last resort. I have found that I seldom have to use this last resort because children react well to a calming voice and being redirected away from whatever is causing the negativity.
